Authentication-Only: What 101domain SSO Does
It is vital for IT administrators and Primary Account Owners to understand the scope of 101domain’s SSO offering. The feature is designed strictly for authentication (login), meaning it handles the verification of the user's identity at the point of access and throughout their session in your 101domain account.
This authentication-only focus means that the 101domain system does not include advanced enterprise features such as Directory Sync, SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management), or Group and Permission Mapping.
We provide other methods to address some of this functionality. These advanced features, which automate user lifecycle management and role assignments, were intentionally excluded to streamline implementation and avoid the necessity of charging high enterprise security fees to you while still offering support for more advanced IdPs.
The following user authentication methods are available to be set by the Primary Account Owner for the Primary Account Owner and for each sub-user independently:
Authentication Method | Effect | Notes |
Standard | Login from all user accounts using a username and password only. | This is the default setting on all accounts. |
Require SSO | Login from all user accounts is restricted to your pre-configured Identity Provider only. | This option must be enabled by the Primary Account Owner. |
SSO Enabled, not required | Login from all user accounts is available either by username and password or your specified Identity Provider. | The Primary Account Owner enables or disabled this setting which allows each user to choose their preferred log in method at any time. We recommend using this method during initial transition periods. |
