What is OnDMARC and how does it work?
OnDMARC is a service that simplifies the implementation of DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance), an email authentication protocol that enhances email security.
It helps organizations achieve full DMARC enforcement to prevent email spoofing, phishing, and unauthorized use of their domain.
How does OnDMARC work?
After you establish a DMARC record, OnDMARC enters a reporting mode, analyzing your email activity without disrupting your email flow. Within 24 hours, you'll receive comprehensive DMARC reports showing which emails pass or fail SPF and DKIM. OnDMARC also allows you to manage DMARC records directly from its interface (Dynamic DMARC), eliminating the need to access your DNS.
Once satisfied with your setup, you can transition from reporting mode (p=none) to full DMARC enforcement (p=reject) to block impersonation attacks.
Gradual Enforcement: It's strongly recommended to implement DMARC enforcement policies in a phased approach, starting with p=none, then moving to p=quarantine, and finally to p=reject. This gradual rollout allows organizations to demonstrate to mailbox providers that their domain is trustworthy, which can also positively impact overall email deliverability.
To achieve full protection against spoofing, your DMARC policy should be set to "p=quarantine" or "p=reject."
