Updating Name Servers from the Domains List

Below are instructions for updating Name Severs from the domains list for individual domain names.

Before you begin:

  • Have at least two valid name server hostnames ready, such as ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com.

  • Make sure DNS records have been created at the new DNS provider before switching name servers to avoid service interruptions.

  • Plan for propagation time. DNS and registry updates can take time to appear globally.

How to change name servers by domain name:

  1. Log in to your account.

  2. Click View all Domains on the home page, then locate the domain you want to update.

Important details

  • A minimum of two name servers is required for all domains.

  • Some registries set a maximum number of name servers that can be assigned to a domain.

  • Name server changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate across the internet.

  • If the new name servers are incorrect or not configured, website, email, or other DNS-dependent services may stop resolving.

Fees may apply: Certain country code domain registries charge additional fees for name server changes. If a fee applies, the Support Team will contact you with next steps before the change is completed. Refer to the Legal & Service Agreements for more information.

After you submit the change:

Monitor the domain and related services during the propagation window. If DNS records are hosted with the previous provider, recreate any required records with the new DNS provider so your website and email services continue to work.

Visit the Support Center if you need help locating the name server settings, confirming registry requirements, or troubleshooting propagation issues.
