A technical contact is the individual or entity responsible for the technical aspects of a domain name, such as managing name servers and DNS settings. While providing a technical contact is optional for domain name registration, you may choose to include one based on your specific domain management needs or preferences.
Important Information Regarding Your Technical Contact
This policy applies to generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs), which are domains under ICANN's authority. Country code domains (ccTLDs) have their own separate policies regarding contact information.
If you choose to provide a technical contact for your domain registration, ICANN's Registration Data Policy requires that we advise you of your options for providing this information:
-
Option 1: Same as Registrant. You may designate the same person or entity as the Registered Name Holder (or their representative) to serve as the technical contact.
-
Option 2: Non-Personal Information. You may provide contact information that does not constitute personally identifiable information. For example, you can use a generic email address like
tech-assistance@example.orginstead of a personal one likealex.smith@example.org.
Where required by applicable privacy laws, your technical contact details may be withheld from public display.
